Black Forest Honey is honey that is local to El Paso County, Colorado. Our honey is raw and unfiltered, never heated to a temperature that could harm its natural benefits.
There are many different varieties of honey in the United States, each with its own unique color and flavor, determined by the source of the gathered nectar. Here in the Black Forest and in greater El Paso County, our honey comes from three basic sources: clover, alfalfa and a local wildflower mix.
Black Forest Honey varies in the mid-amber ranges in color generally. The darker honey tends to be more full bodied and rich tasting. The light honeys tend to a sweeter and more delicate flavor.
Honey often crystalizes as this was produced in a high altitude, low moisture area. To return to liquid form, set the jar in a pan of warm water with a loosened lid. Never microwave pure honey as it will destroy the nutritional quality of the product.
