Black Forest Honey is honey that is local to El Paso County, Colorado. Our honey is raw and unfiltered, never heated to a temperature that could harm its natural benefits.
There are many different varieties of honey in the United States, each with its own unique color and flavor, determined by the source of the gathered nectar. Our Black Forest Honey is of three floral sources: clover, alfalfa, and a mixture of local wildflowers.
Our lightest honeys are clover and alfalfa while the wildflower honey tends to be a little darker. So our lightest honeys tend to be harvested earlier in the year and as the summer progresses the honey tends to get darker.
Nutritionists say that darker honey is slightly richer in nutrients. The darker honey tends to be more full bodied and rich tasting. The light honeys tend to a sweeter and more delicate flavor.
